Anacortes Race week 2021 – Saturday check in

Good Morning! Saturday, June 26th, 2021

I hope that you are happy and healthy today.

Yesterday’s racing was what we often call “sporty”. This means the winds were blowing pretty hard, and the seas were kind of bouncy. In the first race of the day, we scored a 4th place finish. In the second race of the day, we achieved a 9th place finish, which left us in 5th place for the regatta. Which, in consideration, was about where we expected to be.

A lot of boats and fleets didn’t race the second race of the day. It was blowing pretty hard, and positions weren’t going to change if you raced or not, so folks decided to avoid the risk of injury or damage and just come back in.

After we finished with the day’s racing, we stopped at the fuel dock and took on a full fuel load for the delivery home today. We then got the boat cleaned up and put away while we enjoyed the beautiful weather. Then it was time to enjoy the day and the people around us. At five, it was time for the awards ceremony, so we walked to the head of the dock to watch that. Our crew member, Steve’s girlfriend, raced on a j80 that one their class, and the boat that Alex raced on got 2nd for the regatta.

After the awards ceremony, Alex, Tom, Stefan, and I grabbed dinner at Anthony’s. Alex left for home shortly after dinner, and the rest of just enjoyed a super nice warm, comfortable evening on Stephan’s boat.

All in all, this was a super fun race week, and I enjoyed myself. I am looking forward to doing it again next year!

Today, Tom and I will deliver the boat home. We should have great conditions for the delivery and expect to be home around six this evening.

Love ya!
