Good Morning! Sunday, June 27th, 2021
I certainly hope that you can find ways to stay cool in this lovely heat that we are having. (Will we still think that it is lovely heat in a couple of days? Stay tuned!)
Man, yesterday was a pretty stellar day! I got up early and did the shopping run with Stefan for the Anacortes delivery home. I picked up some ice, breakfast makings, sandwiches. It’s incredible how much stuff you don’t buy when you realize that you have to carry it back to the boat. ;). Not that the boat is all that far in Anacortes, but still. By 7:30 am, it was already getting warm, and there wasn’t a lot of wind to help cool things off. However, we did get a goodbye gift of some bloody Mary’s from our new friends Emily and Dustin.
Once we unloaded all of our stuff off Stefan’s boat, got that cleaned up, and then stowed on Corvo, we were ready to go. Tom and I slipped away from the marina just before 9 am, and we took guesses about when we would make it back to Seattle. Tom had studied and studied the charts and the currents, and he predicted that we would be back at 5 pm, I guessed at 4 pm, and the reality was that we got back at 4:30 pm. So we split the difference.
The currents were very advantages for our delivery. We only had about an hour and a half where we were bucking current, and the rest of the time, we were getting a boost from the current, which was very nice. There wasn’t much, if any wind, on the way home, so that was nice since it kept the water flat. I don’t think we splashed waves over the bow once on the entire delivery. It was just spectacular.
J105’s are a little loud when they are motoring, so it was hard to hold a much of a conversation, so it was mostly reading and napping and taking turns steering on the way home.
Once we landed, Catherine and Helen both showed up so that we had enough capacity to get all of our stuff home (I had brought two large coolers with me).
I got home, and Katarina and Alex were both home. It was good to see Katarina again. I hadn’t seen her since before I left for my road trip back in May. The dancers weren’t home when I got home, but they came home later, and it was good to catch up with them as well.
Today I will try and get the lawn mowed in the backyard before it gets too hot. I don’t know what we will do to beat the heat after that.
Love ya!
Dan W
