Day 35 – Sunday In Sandy

Good Morning! Monday, June 7th, 2021

I hope today brings you some forms of joy and happiness!

Yesterday was a good day. I had the opportunity to go to Church with my cousin Dan and his family. Dan is the Bishop of his ward, which means that everyone knows him at Church, and it is his job to know everyone in the ward. It also means there were a LOT of double takes as I was introduced to members of the Church, which was a lot of fun :).

After Church, Stacie, Karlee, and I came back to the house and had a pleasant visit while Dan continued with his duties as the Bishop. It wasn’t as hot today, so it was nice to sit outside and be comfortable.

Dinner was Ribs, and Dan has a pretty cool BBQ that is charcoal powered and digitally controlled. Dan had some Bishop duties, so I spiced up the Ribs while he was gone, and when he returned, he fired up the grill, and we got the Ribs on there. And then he was off again. I was going to take a nap while he was gone, but I went to check on the grill, and the temp was dropping too far because the fan wouldn’t come on. So I spent 45 minutes troubleshooting that and figured out that a switch wasn’t getting closed all of the way. I placed a small wood chip in the switch, and all was good again. I was pretty impressed with how well that BBQ was able to keep the temp right where we set it.

When Dan, and the family, returned from seminary graduation, we finished setting up for dinner. My cousin Spencer joined us for dinner, and it was excellent.

After dinner, we drove up cottonwood canyon to the temple quarry trail. This is a nice trail, and the stream was roaring along. This is where all of the Salt Lake City Temple stone came from back in the 1860s-1880s.

After we got back to Dan’s house, Dan and I talked shop a little while and shared some of the techniques and tools we use to keep track of our work and things that we need to follow up on. After a while, everyone went to bed, and Dan and I continued our conversation until well after 2 in the morning. It was fantastic to be able to catch up and share our thoughts on the world.

Today plans are to head up to Aunt Linda and Uncle Dan’s house and spend the day with them.

Love Ya!
